Mulching for Western capercaillies diet diversity

In beginning of November, forestry mulching has been completed in western capercaillies lekking areas within Natura 2000 Kočevsko. Areas near Turn, Debeli vrh and Bele stene in total size of 11 Ha have been cleared. Light conditions were improved and new opened surfaces were established. This will enable growth of herbs and berry bushes, important food sources for the capercaillies.

Mulching is just of many measures to protect and improve ecological status of the Western capercaillies.
