LIFE Kočevsko project team at the Capercaillie international conference
End of September, a part of our project team visited south-western Poland (Klickow), where international conference Biology, ecology and protection of Galliformes in Poland and Europe was organized as Active protection of lowland populations of Capercaillie in the Bory Dolnośląskie Forest and Augustowska Primeval Forest (LIFE11 NAT/PL/428) project-completion. 130 experts from 14 European countries took part in the conference. LIFE Kočevsko project presented a poster.
The main objective of the conference was to present results of the polish LIFE project and to exchange experience in capercaillie management between experts from all across Europe. Success of different active reintroduction programs were debated.
Study field trip was organized to present practical aspects of capercaillie protection in lowlands of Bory Dolnoslaskie.
