Biology Students’ Society of Slovenia members visited Kočevska Reka
In beginning of December our team participated in a field weekend organized by Biology Students’ Society of Slovenia. Students were exploring nature of Kočevsko Reka, especially large carnivores, bats and cave dwelling organisms.
We took the opportunity to present LIFE Kočevsko project as a model of Natura 2000 conservation. We visited lake Reško and presented the pair of white-tailed eagles living in the area. We also visited the nearby Eagle trail.
Biology Students’ Society is an NGO that brings together science students who wish to upgrade their knowledge with practical field work experience. Natura 2000 conservation measures were well received among participants. They promised to explore more of Kočevsko in the near future.
