Cleaning of cave Mala Stankova and cave Müllerloch (cave Golobja)

Cleaning of cave Mala Stankova near Šalka vas

In the past, cave Mala Stankova served as a village dump. The share of waste was estimated at 20-30 m3. On August 28, 2016, cleaning of this cave were organized by members of Caving club Novo mesto. Cavers removed 12 m3 of municipal waste and almost 2 m3 of old iron.

In the same day cleaning action took place also in cave Mülerloch. According to the forecast, the construction waste should prevail, but the cave inspection in 2015 found that mixed municipal waste, white goods and packaging predominate. The cave was cleaned up to the first plateau and opened the passage to the lower part of the cave, where it is estimated that approximately 50 m3 of non-refuse waste is still present. So far, 13 m3 of mixed municipal waste has been removed from the cave. The cave will be completely cleaned in 2017 together with the caves Oneška and Smetljiva. Due to the high fluidity, it is assumed that waste in the cave has a large negative impact on the olm habitat.
