Waste material removal from cave Schaffeichloch in the vicinity of the Koprivnik village

On 2nd April 2015, within LIFE KOČEVSKO project, cleaning of Schaffeichloch cave took place.

The cave is located close to the road, which leads to Planina and Semič, in the vicinity of the Koprivnik village.

The cleaning itself was performed by the members of Novo Mesto caving club, who took turns descending into the cave from early morning until late at night. Using appropriate mechanization, they finished in a single day, instead of two that as was originally planned.

The combined weight of waste material removed from the cave was 200kg of various waste metals and 6.300kg of mixed waste (kitchen appliances, fabric, furniture etc.).

The cleaning took place within C1 action – Improvement of the proteus habitat, and habitat of caves not open to the public.
