Setting up the surveillance system of white-tailed eagle nest DAY 2

On the second day of the surveillance system setup we mounted a photovoltaic panel with a battery which will supply the camera with the necessary energy. We connected all the parts – camera, parabolic antenna and photovoltaic panel – into a functioning unit for nest surveillance which also monitors weather conditions.

Photovoltaic panel automatically follows the sun and moves in the direction of optimal lighting. It can also be moved “manually” via wifi connection. This function is useful in case of snow when we can manually setup the panel into vertical position thus preventing it being covered by snow. The camera position and zoom can also be changed from the distance thus optimising the view angle of the nest.
