Completed work on the way to the new nature observatory along lake Reško

In October, with the signing of a contract with Avtoobnova Branko Muhvič s.p. first work on the way to the peninsula of lake Reško began. First, we started working with editing the path to the observatory, which will be placed on the peninsula. At the beginning of the path, located in the immediate vicinity of the SFS local unit Kočevska Reka, we set a wooden barrier that prevents driving by motor vehicles. The path’s total length is about 500 meters. It is intended for pedestrians only.

Bank mulching and drainage arrangements along the path were performed. On the way to the observatory, there are also two additional wooden bridges. On the right side of the path towards the lake, we placed a wooden guard rail with a wire in the length of 100 meters and 400 meters of wire fence. Wooden guard rails guide people, while preventing livestock from nearby pasture from accessing the lake. In this way, we want to reduce the disturbances in the lake area, which represents an important feeding place for the white-tailed eagle.

The work ended in November. In the springtime, three new nature observatories (two near the lake Reško and one above the former quarry in Kočevska Reka) will be will be available to visitors.
