Workshop on Conservation Measures Implementation

On Tuesday, November 21, LIFE Kočevsko project team organized a work meeting and a field workshop to present conservation measures that have been or will be implemented within LIFE Kočevsko project.

District foresters from local units Brežice, Novo mesto, Kočevje, Postojna, Tolmin and Sežana took part in the workshop. Project activities were presented by Dragan Matijašić, head of sector for forest economics planning at Slovenian Forest Service.

At the field, mulching and tree girdling were presented, as well as flight corridors for the wood grouse. Presentation raised many questions concerning novelties in implementation of Natura 2000 measures. We agreed that LIFE Kočevsko is becoming a best practice example and will surely serve as a model for other Natura 2000 areas.
