Establishing quiet zone for white-tailed eagle by setting up cattle fence
Lake in Kočevska Reka is important feeding habitat for the local white-tailed eagle pair. The northern part of the lake is a reserve where fishing, boating, swimming and other activities on the lake are not allowed. The forest surrounding this part of the lake is also par of the reserve where logging and hunting are not allowed.
To establish quiet-zone in the larger area of the lake we are planning a number of meetings with different stakeholders. To reduce the access of cattle to the lake (in the area of lake reserve) we will set up 500 m of wooden fence. This measure was discussed on Monday, 19.12.2016 with the responsible organisation managing State owned agricultural plots and both farmers leasing the land. The wooden fence will be set up in the spring of 2017.
