Public consultation on environmental impact of traffic in the natural environment
On 21 and 22 June 2017, a public consultation and a field workshop “Environmental impact of traffic in the natural environment” took place. Since ensuring peace (absence of human disturbance) in areas relevant to the target species of our project, LIFE Kočevsko representatives responed to the invitation of the Slovenian Forest Service Slovenj Gradec.
At the consultation, representatives of the Suport – sustainable management of Pohorje project shared their knowledge and experience. Participants were given the opportunity to exchange experiences and practices in solving the issue across Slovenia. The following day, a field workshop was organized. We visited locations where measuring gateway, locks on forest roads and traffic signs are set, all aiming to raise public awareness and redirecting visitors from sensitive areas in Pohorje. The organizers made a great deal of effort and prepared a very interesting program, which will help us address the related issues in Kočevsko area.
