Field examination of work progress in state-owned forest in Planina district

On Thursday, 18 January, a team of Slovenian forest service representatives payed a visit to Planina district (SFS Novo mesto), where concrete conservation measures for LIFE Kočevsko target species are being implemented.  The main activity in the area is girdling of trees, aiming to increase dead wood quantities in the area. Implementation of the measure will help improving habitat for the three-toed and the white-backed woodpecker.

The activity was carried out by our contractor, GG Novo mesto d.d. All participants agreed that the work has been accomplished in accordance to all requirements. New practice examples are well accepted among fellow foresters from SFS Novo mesto unit.

In state-owned forests of the area, completion of the works is scheduled for 10 February.
