The Liberation Monument

Published on 13. 1. 2015 under Cultural attractions

The Liberation Monument was completed on 3 October 1953. It depicts the idea of struggle, freedom and renewal and has been deliberately placed in a location that was for centuries the site of the Aursperg stronghold. The statue was consciously designed in a realistic and modern way. The author of the idea for the project is the academic painter Zoran Didek. The main statue is the work of Božidar Pengov, and side statues are the work of Lojze Lavrič, Marjan Keršič and Stane Keržič.
