With forest detectives about endangered bird species

In cooperation with the elementary school Zbora odposlancev, we carried out the first educational workshop for first graders. Throughout the course forest detectives, we learned through the game about endangered birds, which are also LIFE Kočevsko target species. We focused on the bird adaptations and tried to classified them. We also designed food chains and webs in the forest, made suet balls (cookies) for birds and created the white-tailed eagle.

The purpose of the workshop was to inform children about the importance of these species in the environment. Their existence depends on the local residents’ acceptance to a great extent. Because children represent future decision makers about the local environment, their positive attitude is of decisive importance.
