Hazel Grouse, white-backed woodpecker and three-toed woodpecker census training
The Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation in cooperation with the Slovenia forest service and the DOPPS-Birdlife Slovenia organized training for hazel grouse, white-backed woodpecker and three-toed woodpecker census on 17.4.2015. Training, attended by around 30 people was comprised of theoretical part, which was performed at the Scout’s environmental center at Žaga Rog, and practical part with demonstration of calling haze grouse, white-backed woodpecker and three-toed woodpecker in the field. Training was for the most part attended by field foresters from partnered organizations, who will independently perform and participate in censuses during and after the project. Main added value of the training was spreading and transfer of knowledge of target species and their environmental requirements, which are essential for efficient management as well as long term conservation of species in question.
