People can help conserve white-tailed eagle in Kočevska Reka

The foreseen conservation measures for improving habitat of white-tailed eagle in Kočevska Reka will not be enough for long-term conservation of this species without including local people in conservation.

On Monday, 19.12.2016, we organised  educational activities for the local people in Kočevska Reka. We presented activities for white-tailed eagle within LIFE Kočevsko with the aim of people accepting the local white-tailed eagle pair as their “hero”.

Using wooden models of target species and project video we presented our activities to primary school children OŠ ob Rinži. Between 10 – 11 am and 5 – 6 pm we presented our activities to local inhabitants at the main square in Kočevska Reka. Several important stakeholders visited our stall including hunters and foresters.

Raising awareness and including the local public in our activities is very important and we will continue with these activities.
